Imagine a humble platform, a soapbox if you will. Picture standing atop it. You shout your opinions into the void, hoping someone…anyone…might listen. This is MY road to that metaphorical soapbox, empowered and DETERMINED to make an impact.
Being given a platform is a powerful thing. It allows individuals to be heard, share experiences, and influence change. I have encountered many experiences to reach this stage. shaping my character and perspective.
And soon, you too will find yourself standing on your own ‘soapbox’, using your voice to inspire and instigate change.
Stepping up to the Podium🎤
As a Gemini Sun, I am a natural conversationalist. Capable of understanding and appreciating many perspectives. Cue the astrology enthusiast nodding in agreement — myself included. I am driven by my curiosity and passion.
I come armed with a myriad of talents and a wealth of ideas. I have opinions — shocking, I know.
I have a sense of humor that can lighten any mood, but I’m also capable of profound introspection. Adding layers of complexity to my personality that is captivating — Or, would earn me a cozy stay in a padded room.
My interests are as diverse as the latest gossip and conspiracy theories — is this the matrix, and everything as we know it, is not real? Seriously, I need to know this.
Making your way to the ‘soapbox’ is not always sunshine and rainbows. As a black woman, I am painfully aware that society often tries to silence our voices. We could scream from the mountaintops about how to fix the world. But, still labeled as angry or loud while being dismissed.
It’s as if having a voice and using it, is a revolutionary concept.
Despite these challenges, I refuse to let assumptions about my intelligence or appearance deter me. Instead, I use my cunning nature to understand the world around me, turning perceived weaknesses into strengths. People often underestimate me, thinking so little of me.
They couldn’t be more wrong….
Rewriting My Script
I am not waiting for the world to change; I am creating change. I am pushing myself into the spotlight.
Elbowing my way into every avenue I enjoy — fashion, writing, entertainment, and more.
Fashion, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. I am creating a fashion company, curating looks and personally designing pieces that reflect my unique aesthetic.
Indeed, creating and knowing what is aesthetically pleasing; is an art.
Lights. Camera. Action!
I have reached a new level of ‘delusional confidence’, where the intimidating stage fright no longer holds any power over me. The shining lights, the costumes, the raw emotion — it’s all become a part of who I am. You might find me on your new favorite TV show, displaying my dramatics. Or, maybe behind the scenes, pouring my creativity into directing it.
Writing, as you might have guessed, is another passion of mine. Hence, this extended rant you’re currently reading. It’s not about making an impact on one platform; it’s about making a difference in the world.
